I'm trying!!!

In my continuing quest to find my passion and love what I do, I’m constantly reading all sorts of articles and books and various other self-improvement/self-discovery type literature. The collection I have racked up is quite embarrassing, to be honest.
Last night, I stumbled upon this article: 15 Ways to Tell If You’re on the Right Path.
I think anyone that has read this blog already knows how I feel about that, but I took the test anyway.
It was quite simple:
If you’ve ever asked yourself, “Am I on the right path?” or “Is this the work I’m meant to be doing?” or “How do I get started?”—this is where you begin… Here are some questions, inspired by Martha Beck’s Finding Your Own North Star, to help you get started by evaluating your work/love connection. Grab a pen, sheet of paper, and note either “often,” “sometimes,” “rarely” or “never” for each of these 15 questions.
1. I get excited every morning when I get out of bed.
2. I feel accomplished when I fall asleep.
3. I feel overwhelmed with gratitude.
4. My life feels like a grand adventure.
5. I have fun.
6. Things just seem to work out well for me.
7. I do things I love.
8. I feel on top of my game.
9. I get so involved in projects that I lose track of time.
10. People seem to enjoy being around me.
11. I do what I deeply want to do, even if it’s scary.
12. I have great ideas.
13. I feel so much love for other people.
14. I use my imagination.
15. I feel deeply understood.
Easy enough. Let’s review:
1. I get excited every morning when I get out of bed.
On Saturdays and Sundays. I suppose that would be rarely.
2. I feel accomplished when I fall asleep.
Hmm…please define accomplished. Sometimes.
3. I feel overwhelmed with gratitude.
I don’t know if overwhelmed is the right word, but I feel gratitude often (woo hoo!)
4. My life feels like a grand adventure.
It does when I’m on vacation. Sometimes.
5. I have fun.
Often.
6. Things just seem to work out well for me.
Sometimes.
7. I do things I love.
On my own time, yes. Often.
8. I feel on top of my game.
Rarely.
9. I get so involved in projects that I lose track of time.
Rarely. Well, that depends… does pinterest count as a project?
10. People seem to enjoy being around me.
Often (at least I hope so!)
11. I do what I deeply want to do, even if it’s scary.
Sometimes.
12. I have great ideas.
For my blog. Sometimes.
13. I feel so much love for other people.
Often.
14. I use my imagination.
Not often enough. Sometimes.
15. I feel deeply understood.
Dude, I don’t even understand myself half the time. Sometimes.
According to the article, “if you didn’t answer “often” to every single question, your work/love connection could stand to be stronger.”
To sum it up, my work/love connection is out of whack. It needs, well, some work.
Shocker!
Honestly, perhaps this is because I’m in a totally different place than I would like to be, but answering “often” to every single question seems a bit far fetched.
But hey, I’m trying, and at least I didn’t have any nevers!
The real question is, how do I find my way to the right path? I so want to get on it. I wish there was a yellow brick road that I could follow. Everything I read seems to tell me how to figure out if I’m on the wrong path, but not how to get on the right one. I need a green fidelity arrow for life!
Oh life. Why are you so mysterious?
Did you take the test? Did you get all oftens? Please share!

Good post! I love taking quizzes and this one is way better than the ones in Cosmo
I mostly had “sometimes” with a few rarely’s and a few often’s (but I never answered “never”). I am trying to find a few more often’s in the coming months
I will retake it again in 3 months to see if it’s changed.
**Her follow-up article was pretty awesome too, but I highly doubt she would have done it if she was in a committed relationship?
-L:)
Good point! I was thinking the same thing… when you are in a committed relationship you can’t really up and move. If that was the case, I’d be blogging from a Tuscan villa right now.
But alas, I am married, and live in San Francisco.
I too am trying for more oftens! I like your plan on revisiting this in a few months.
I love you Serena
